For example, ultrawide screen users can pin taskbar to a side of the screen to increase vertical space.

Steps Change Taskbar Position in Windows 10

To change the taskbar position, open Settings, go to "Personalization → Taskbar" and choose the new taskbar position from the "Taskbar location on screen" dropdown menu.

Move taskbar to the left or right side of the screen

To move the taskbar to the left or right side of the screen, follow the steps below.

  1. Open the Start menu.
  2. Click on the "Settings" icon on the left panel.

  3. Go to "Personalization" in the Settings app.

  4. Go to the "Taskbar" page. This is where you can customize the taskbar.
  5. To pin Taskbar to the left of the screen, select "Left" from the "Taskbar location on screen" dropdown.

  6. To pin Taskbar to the right of the screen, select "Right" from the "Taskbar location on screen" dropdown.

  7. Close the Settings app.

As soon as you select Left or Right from the drop-down menu, the taskbar position will be change accordingly. There is no restart required to apply the changes.

Move taskbar to the top of the screen

To move the taskbar to the top from bottom or side, follow the steps listed below.

  1. Press "Windows Key + I" keyboard shortcut to open the Settings app.
  2. Go to the "Personalization → Taskbar" page in the Settings app.

As soon as you select Top from the drop-down menu, the taskbar will be moved to top of the screen from the bottom or side of the screen.

Move taskbar to the bottom of the screen

To restore the default taskbar position. i.e, move the taskbar to the bottom of the screen, follow the steps shown below.

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Go to "Personalization".
